The story of Vans begins in 1966, when the company sold 12 pairs of its Style #44 on its first day of operation in Anaheim, California. Today, Style #44 goes by the name Authentic and retains the same design DNA as it did 50 years ago with its waffle-pattern sole and “Off the Wall” license plate. Over half a century as Vans Authentics, the silhouette has been imagined in almost countless colorways and versions. The most noteworthy Vans Authentics include original checkerboard colors as well as collaborations with Supreme, COMME des GARÇONS and more.
