In 1988, Nike introduced the Mercurial football cleat, which debuted on the feet of Brazilian superstar Ronaldo. Created for strikers with an agile and quick style of play, the Mercurial range later branched out into the Mercurial Superfly, which featured modern performance tech like a dynamic-fit collar and Flyknit upper over the model’s original leather construction.
